FPEC - Framfield Parish E-Community

What is FPEC ?

FPEC is a "Yahoo" group and as such runs on their system. In principle:

  • To receive the messages (which arrive in the form of normal emails) you must subscribe to the Group. You will not receive the messages unless you specifically request to by subscribing. This is not a "junk mail" system!
  • Any subscriber may send messages to the whole Group. This is done simply by sending a normal email to the Group address. This is, we hope, a simpler approach than using Outlook for group emails which can get very messy.
  • All subscribers to the group will receive all messages sent to the Group in their normal email. Note that it is not possible for messages to be "approved" before they are posted, which leads to the next point ....
  • Clearly there need to be Rules and the Group needs to be used sensibly. For example, anyone advertising items for sale, making inappropriate comments, and generally being a nuisance will be barred !!
  • The Group has a Moderator who is responsible for administering membership and generally maintaining the Group and keeping the members in order!.
  • You may unsubscribe from the Group at any time. After that point you will not receive any further messages from the Group

In summary therefore, the system is like a "message board" (a physical equivalent would be a noticeboard in a communal area) where a message can be sent simply and easily to all members. Not all messages will require your personal attention, so please don't worry you will be "swamped". As an example, Ian could send out an email regarding band practice; this would be received by every subscriber as an email. Only band mambers need act on it. We could all use the system to confirm times, meetings and service details eg Chris could send an email about changes to Evening Praise for example.
