Church Website Update

Menu revision:

The menu system has been rewritten by Graham Sheldon and is now easier to follow. The menus had grown to a point where we felt they had lost clarity and structure.

The main change is that Missions has been merged into Ministries and a new Church menu has been created which includes the Church Building, History and Photo Gallery. The Diary option now brings together Notices and Calendar in one place. I hope you will find the menus easier to use and navigate.

Top of page:

This button allows you to return quickly to the top of long pages without using the scroll bars.

Rotas:

Rotas are being revised to improve presentation using a grid system. Thanks to Chris Powell for his work on this.

I hope to work in a new "magnify when hovered" feature so thet the text is more legible

Text size and legibility:

The bar you can see above may be used to enlarge the text if you have difficulties reading it.

This scheme has now been in operation for a while - I hope all pages have now been "tidied up" and this option moved into the menu bar. Please note: all updated pages have a light blue background to the scripture passage.

Once a text size is set it will be remembered across the site for that visit. The changes only apply to our site and any sites we link to will be displayed as normal.

Menus:

New options have been added to the Home button to provide quicker navigation to frequently accessed pages.

The menus have been slightly redesigned to display black on "hover". A "selected" menu option changes to red and other menu options remain in blue.

Browser page titles:

Page titles have been amended so that they display more useful information in the browser title. All pages were previously titled "St Thomas à Becket Church, Framfield, Uckfiled - etc", which led to a host of windows open which all appear the same on the browser tabs. Hopefully this will help find a page that is "open somewhere" in the browser.
