Church Website visitor statistics

There are now statistics available to show Visits by page - ie which pages are used most often - Details here

Visits per month:

For some time now we have reported the number of website visits per month in the Church Notices.  On investigation I now have discovered there are a significant number of site visits recorded by "robots".  These really do not count as visitors to us in the same way as a personal visit, as they are used by search engines such as Google, Yahoo and others for indexing site content.

There were 1438 visits to the website in December 2009 (without 1293 robot visits included).  This figure therefore appears much lower than the 3542 visits which were reported in November as this included 1698 robots.

Future visitor statistics published in 2010 will exclude the "robot" visits and will consequently mean visit totals will appear to be lower. The table below will show both methods of reporting for those who wish to cross-compare.

I have also re-worked the figures back to January 2009 and the adjusted figures are included below:

This analysis summarises multiple page impressions of an individual visitor into unique visits. A visitor is counted only when loading up more than one page and taking no longer than 30 minutes between individual pages. We know how many unique visits are made to the website and at which times.

Please note:
It comes as a surprise to me that there are so many robot visits, and why this is necessary.  Clearly it has made a nonsense of the earlier measurements!  Apologies to those who rely on these figures - but what a strange way to measure things. Again, I apologise for this unfortunate oversight. I will continue to update this page monthly.
